Curso Certificación Masaje Esalen®

  • Module I: October 30 to November 6, 2021 (Non-Residential)
  • Module II: from April 2 to April 9, 2022 (Residential)

Aimed at therapists, osteopaths, kinesiologists and body workers (with a minimum of 150 hours of training in body techniques) interested in deepening and complementing their professional work. The Esalen Institute is recognized worldwide for being a place where new and varied approaches have always converged. Personalities such as Ida Rolf, creator of Rolfing (Deep Tissue); Moshee Feldenkrais, body movement analyst; Milton Trager with the Hamacado Trager massage; Dr. Stan Grof, creator of the Rolfing (Deep Tissue). Stan Grof, creator of Holotropic Breathwork and transpersonal therapy; Fritz Perls, father of Gestalt therapy; Gabrielle Roth, creator of the dance of the five rhythms; Emily Conrad d’Aud and Susan Harper, with the Continuum; are some of the many who have left their mark on Esalen Massage. It could be said that in one way or another all these experiences also come to us through this technique.

From the technical point of view, Esalen Massage is a practice that relieves pain, increases mobility in joints and muscles and allows us to re-educate the patient to feel an integrated and harmonious Being.

Esalen Massage consists of a combination of varied and creative forms of contact that includes: long and fluid movements, localized pressures, harmonious integrations, passive joint manipulations, integration and pause supports, expansive stretches, contortions, compressions and decompressions that occur in a continuous, enveloping and nurturing rhythm. All this gives the practice of Esalen Massage an artistic nuance, as it provides an experience of deep relaxation favoring the natural response of the body and mind to return to its healthy and healing balance.

This massage allows us to harmonize the mind, body and spirit, being useful for both the one who gives the massage and the one who receives it, achieving in a harmonious and respectful way a reliable space for self-healing that helps our patients to live more comfortably in their own body.

In this course we will present in addition to the technique, some personal resources oriented to create the state of Presence that is the essential quality that distinguishes Esalen Massage from other modalities. This is an art that is transmitted through the contact of hands allowing us to provide a therapeutic massage of high professional quality. We are waiting for you to share this experience.

Ingrid May - Certificación Esalen

Kinesiologist, Certified Massage Therapist, trained as a Physical Therapist in 1975 in Germany, her native country. Since 1985 she has been a member of the professional staff of the Esalen Institute, California, where she also works as an instructor.

Her experience and training also include ecstatic dance with Gabrielle Roth, Continuum with Emilie Conrad, holotropic breathing with Stan Grof and various forms of meditation, in a context of personal and transpersonal conscious exploration. In 1996 she founded with Marcelo Batroli, OASIS, the Californian Massage School.

She considers this the Task of her Life – her mission – where she puts into practice and transmits to the students all the teachings she received. Argentina has become her home, but she continues to travel to teach or study in the United States (Esalen Institute), Europe and Australia.

Rob sees himself as a cultivator of his own consciousness. Movement and activities that naturally invite introspection are his forte, he is a dedicated Yogi and guardian of the ocean. When you talk to Rob about self-awareness, and why it plays such a central role in his life, he will say:

“Being active is how I find my own limits. It has taken me years to develop the presence to be able to feel my quality of experience in any moment. My intention is to cultivate the ability to control my experience constantly, and gently, without controlling it. Knowing myself more fully is the key to empathizing with others.
I devote a great deal of energy to empathy, and this is the core of my work in massage. My self-awareness and my intention to relate to others has naturally evolved into an ability to bring others to the threshold of their own experience – and invite them to contact what they find there without judgment. That threshold is a place we all visit from time to time – it is the source, the seat of our natural potential.”

Rob currently teaches at the Esalen Institute and other educational centers in California and around the world.
